Subscribing to lists on the Loughborough University  Mailing List System

The Web interface to the Loughborough University Mailing List System cannot be used to add yourself to mailing lists. To add yourself to a mailing list you must send Majordomo commands via an E-Mail message to the special address

Majordomo@lists.lboro.ac.uk.

To get a list of current mailing lists on the system, you should send an E-Mail message to Majordomo@lists.lboro.ac.uk containing the single command

lists
in the main body of the message (i.e. NOT in the subject line or any other header!).

In order to join a mailing list you should send an E-Mail message to Majordomo@lists.lboro.ac.uk containing the single command

subscribe listname
in the main body of the message, where listname is the name of the mailing list you wish to join (taken from the output of the 'lists' command above). Please do not put anything after the name of the mailing list as this will be taken as an alternative E-Mail address to subscribe to the list.

NOTE: This is different to many other mailing list systems in existence which would expect the full name of the subscriber to be placed here.

There are many other commands which can be sent to the Majordomo system. For a full list of commands you should send an E-Mail message to the address Majordomo@lists.lboro.ac.uk containing the single command

help
in the main body of the message. This should result in you receiving a help message by return of E-Mail.
